Since 3×3 wheelchair basketball is making its debut at FISU this year, there is no video footage available for us to show you in the quiz. Instead, here are the five most important rules of this sport:
- Dribbling and Traveling Rule
A player must dribble the ball while moving. A player can push their wheelchair twice before dribbling again. If a third push is made without dribbling, it’s called a traveling violation. The ball must remain in control while dribbling. - Scoring System
The scoring system is identical to standard basketball. - Time Violation
The offensive team has 24 seconds to attempt a shot. A player cannot remain in the key (painted area) for more than 3 seconds without attempting a shot or leaving the area. - Fouls and Physical Contact
Physical contact that gives an unfair advantage or endangers a player results in a foul. Charging and blocking are the same as in standing basketball. If a player falls, the game continues unless the player is at risk of injury. - Classification and Team Balance
Players are classified based on their physical impairment with a point system ranging from 1.0 (most impaired) to 4.5 (least impaired). The total points of the five players on the court cannot exceed 14 points at any time to ensure fair competition.
